.name is the only Internet top-level-domain exlusively for individuals, where anyone can register his/her name, nickname, alias, screenname or something he/she is commonly known as. The person's name will end in .name, and become a lifelong email address and web site address.

Nothing can be more memorable and more personal as an online address than a .name address.

A .name address can be obtained directly from any well-stocked ICANN Accredited Registrar on the Internet (a list of which can be found here), as well as from many other websites and portals worldwide. More and more Internet portals and broadband providers offer .name as a complimentary service or optional upgrade if you are a subscriber. Ask your favourite portal if they offer personal .name addresses!

The price for a .name address varies from Registrar to Registrar. For a list of Registrars, please click on "Registrars" in the menu and find a Registrar that you like.

A .name address can be registered for up to 10 years into the future.

Your current Registrar is obliged to give you the EPP Authorization Code, which is required for the transfer. Bring this auth-code to your new Registrar, who will be able to complete your transfer.

Note that unfortunately not all Registrars support transfers for .name. In particular, .name email addresses and domains of the type peter@morgan.name and peter.morgan.name are not supported by all Registrars.
